Compare ABA EHRs
Lumenality vs Rethink
Rethink Behavioral Health is an established ABA platform that serves start-ups through large enterprises. Lumenality is a younger, ABA-only EHR with published flat-rate pricing and a dedicated deployment for every practice. Both include data collection, a program library and billing. Here is where each one fits.
Where Rethink fits
- You want a larger content library. Rethink lists more than 1,500 customizable templates for treatment plans and interventions, and VB-MAPP in the platform.
- You want to hand billing to an outside team. Rethink offers Managed Billing Services, run on its BillAI billing software.
- You need enterprise credentials on paper. Rethink states HITRUST CSF certification and runs on Microsoft Azure.
Where Lumenality wins
- You can see the price before you call. Lumenality publishes every tier’s monthly rate; Rethink prices by quote, based on users, modules and services.
- One flat rate per practice, set by provider count. No per-seat charges, so hiring does not raise your bill until you pass your tier.
- Your practice runs on its own deployment, with its own database and encryption keys.
- Notes, authorizations, claims, EVV, supervision and the guardian portal share one record, so the session note becomes the claim line without re-entry. In the portal, families review session notes and sign treatment plans, BIPs and progress reports.
- You can get a CSV export of your data on request at any time, and leaving carries no exit fee.
- Progress reports, treatment plans and BIPs carry the client’s graphs, numbered and frozen when signed, and families see the same graphs in the portal and on the signed copy.
Where Lumenality does not win
- We are a young company. Rethink has years of customer history that we do not yet have.
- We do not offer a managed billing service. Lumenality is software your own billing team runs.
- The clearinghouse is not a difference: Rethink’s BillAI also uses Stedi.
- We do not include VB-MAPP’s items or protocol. You give it from your own licensed copy, and Lumenality records the scores by domain, graphs them and links them to treatment-plan goals.
Side by side
Pricing
Lumenality: Published on /pricing: one flat monthly rate by provider count, from $599 (1 provider) to $3,899 (16–30), and from $8,000 for 31+. Clearinghouse and AI usage are billed at agreed-to rates.
Rethink: Quote-based. Rethink says pricing varies with the number of users, modules and services.
Deployment
Lumenality: A dedicated deployment for each practice: its own database and encryption keys.
Rethink: Microsoft Azure, with AES-256 encryption at rest. HITRUST CSF certified.
Disciplines
Lumenality: ABA only.
Rethink: ABA and behavioral health.
Program library
Lumenality: A standard library of 600+ ABA programs with 3,300+ targets. Each program names the evidence-based practices it uses. Your clinical supervisors switch on the programs your practice uses, and any program can be copied to customize it.
Rethink: 1,500+ customizable templates for treatment plans and interventions, and VB-MAPP in the platform, Rethink says.
Data collection
Lumenality: Trial-by-trial (with prompt levels), task-analysis, frequency, duration, interval, rating-scale and ABC data, in the browser on a computer, tablet or phone. Session summaries and graphs update automatically, including task-analysis steps, intervals and ratings. If the connection drops mid-session, what’s entered is kept encrypted on the device and sent when the connection returns.
Rethink: Data collection that works online or offline, Rethink says.
Clearinghouse
Lumenality: Stedi, built in: 837P claims, 835 remittances, eligibility and claim-status checks.
Rethink: Stedi, for its BillAI billing software.
Billing service
Lumenality: None. Lumenality is software your own team runs.
Rethink: Managed Billing Services, run on BillAI.
Contract and leaving
Lumenality: CSV exports of clinical, billing and operational data on request at any time. If you leave, the same exports are provided with 30 days’ notice. No exit fees.
Rethink: Not published. Rethink’s commercial terms are in its practice agreement, which is not public.
Details about Rethink come from its public website as of October 15, 2026 and may have changed.
Switching from Rethink
Can you import my data from my current EHR?
In most cases, yes. After we review samples of what your current system can export, we'll tell you exactly what we can bring over — typically client demographics, active authorizations, schedules, clinical history, and billing records. Some sources export cleanly and migration is straightforward; others are messier and a portion of the data needs to be re-keyed or hand-mapped. Either way you'll know the scope and the trade-offs before onboarding starts, not after.
How long does it take to switch?
Most practices go live in about 2 to 6 weeks. That covers the signed agreement and BAA (1 to 3 weeks), a data-migration assessment (up to 2 weeks), and 3 to 5 days of staff training. Go-live itself takes one day.
Is there a trial?
Not a self-serve one, because every practice runs on its own dedicated deployment. Instead, we walk you through the full platform in a live demo before you sign anything. On the call you see a session note become a claim, how authorizations and denials are tracked, and the rate for your provider count.
What happens if I want to leave?
Your data is yours. We provide full data exports — clinical records, billing, and operational data — in standard CSV format on request at any time, not just at exit. If you do choose to leave, the same exports are provided with 30 days notice. No exit fees, no data hostage situations.
