Compare ABA EHRs

Lumenality vs CentralReach

CentralReach is one of the largest platforms in ABA software, and for many organizations it is the right choice. Lumenality is a younger, ABA-only EHR that runs the clinical work, scheduling and billing in one record, with published flat-rate pricing and a dedicated deployment for every practice. Here is where each one fits.

Where CentralReach fits

  • You run more than ABA. CentralReach also serves speech, occupational and physical therapy, counseling, early intervention and PK-12 special education.
  • You want ABLLS-R and AFLS assessment content, AI scheduling and note tools, a caregiver training app, and a staff learning platform from one vendor.
  • You want to hand billing to an outside team. CentralReach offers CR BillMax, a managed billing service.
  • Scale and track record matter most. CentralReach reported serving over 4,600 ABA practices in July 2026.

Where Lumenality wins

  • You can see the price before you call. Lumenality publishes every tier’s monthly rate; CentralReach does not publish pricing.
  • One flat rate per practice, set by provider count. No per-seat charges, no setup fees and no percentage of collections, so adding staff does not change your bill until you pass your tier.
  • Your practice runs on its own deployment, with its own database and encryption keys.
  • Claims come straight from the session record and run rule-based checks before they go out through the built-in Stedi clearinghouse. Each session draws down its authorization by CPT code, and authorizations are flagged at 80% of units used and before they expire.
  • Every plan includes a standard library of 600+ ABA programs with 3,300+ targets. Each program names the evidence-based practices it uses. Your clinical supervisors switch on the programs your practice uses, and any program can be copied to customize it.
  • You can get a CSV export of your data on request at any time, not only at exit, and leaving carries no exit fee.
  • Progress reports, treatment plans and BIPs carry the client’s graphs, numbered and frozen when signed, and families see the same graphs in the portal and on the signed copy.

Where Lumenality does not win

  • Lumenality is ABA-only. If you also need speech, OT, PT or school-based services on the same platform, CentralReach covers them and we do not.
  • We are a young company. CentralReach has years of customer history and third-party reviews that we do not yet have.
  • We do not offer a managed billing service. Lumenality is software your own billing team runs.
  • We do not write session notes with AI. Automatic scheduling is rule-based: the schedule planner fills a draft schedule from past pairings, authorizations, credentials and availability for you to review.

Switching from CentralReach

Can you import my data from my current EHR?

In most cases, yes. After we review samples of what your current system can export, we'll tell you exactly what we can bring over — typically client demographics, active authorizations, schedules, clinical history, and billing records. Some sources export cleanly and migration is straightforward; others are messier and a portion of the data needs to be re-keyed or hand-mapped. Either way you'll know the scope and the trade-offs before onboarding starts, not after.

How long does it take to switch?

Most practices go live in about 2 to 6 weeks. That covers the signed agreement and BAA (1 to 3 weeks), a data-migration assessment (up to 2 weeks), and 3 to 5 days of staff training. Go-live itself takes one day.

Is there a trial?

Not a self-serve one, because every practice runs on its own dedicated deployment. Instead, we walk you through the full platform in a live demo before you sign anything. On the call you see a session note become a claim, how authorizations and denials are tracked, and the rate for your provider count.

What happens if I want to leave?

Your data is yours. We provide full data exports — clinical records, billing, and operational data — in standard CSV format on request at any time, not just at exit. If you do choose to leave, the same exports are provided with 30 days notice. No exit fees, no data hostage situations.
